The Democrats are getting a free congressional seat courtesy of Rep. Mark Foley (R-Florida).

WASHINGTON — Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., resigned today amid questions regarding e-mails he allegedly sent to a teenage male congressional page.

"Today I have delivered a letter to the Speaker of the House informing him of my decision to resign from the U.S. House of Representatives, effective today," Foley wrote in a press release distributed by his congressional office. "I thank the people of Florida's 16th Congressional District for giving me the opportunity to serve them for the last 12 years; it has been an honor."

Earlier today, ABC News broadcast excerpts of sexually explicit contents of instant messages Foley allegedly sent to a former male page.

Foley's election opponent, Democrat Tim Mahoney, has called for an investigation.

I'm pretty sure he broke several laws. It is my sincerest wish that he share a cell with someone that will help him understand the pain sexual misconduct rests upon the victim.

As much as it pains me to say so, in this case the Democrats are welcome to the seat.
